
Josh Chaffin leads the Global Technical Group on Economic Strengthening and Child Protection, a sub-network of the Columbia University-led, Care and Protection of Children in Crisis Learning Network. The Global Technical Group looks at ways to get better child protection outcomes from livelihoods programs in crisis-affected countries. Before coming to the Women’s Refugee Commission, Josh worked at UNICEF headquarters managing a global corporate evaluation of UNICEF’s work with and for adolescents. He served as Technical Expert on adolescents at UNICEF Regional Office in Nairobi, and he has consulted on youth employment and empowerment issues for ILO, UNDG, UNDP, the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies, Adam Smith International and MercyCorps. Josh has served as editor of two national Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers as well as the national Human Development Report for the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2006-7, he managed a USAID-funded reintegration program for children and women affected by the fighting forces in Liberia. He holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University.
