Mona Mazraani is a second-year Mailman student in the Department of Population and Family Health, and in the Child, Youth and Family certificate. Prior to Mailman, Mona attended University of California, Santa Barbara and majored in Biopsychology and minored in Spanish. Following her time at UCSB, she served as a Peace Corps Education volunteer in a rural village in Mozambique, where her primary projects were teaching at the local secondary school and working on extracurricular programs in the areas of adolescent health, gender equity, sexual/reproductive health, leadership, self-esteem and HIV/AIDS awareness. Following her time in Peace Corps, she worked at the UCLA Health, Ethics Center working within the intersections of medicine and bioethics. Her primary interests are focusing on early childhood development, adverse child experiences and child protection in humanitarian settings.
